Perinatal Mood Check

EPDS (Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale)
⏱ 3–5 min 10 questions Free · Private

About this check

The EPDS is a 10-question scale widely used during pregnancy and after birth. It is designed for perinatal mental health: it asks about the last 7 days, and its phrasing is suited to the emotional ups and downs of that time. The final question asks gently about self-harm thoughts.

Important: This is a screener, not a diagnosis. The EPDS is validated in pregnancy and up to 12 months after birth. Depression in the perinatal period is common and treatable — there is no shame in a high score.

What your score means

Low concern · score 0–8

Your score is in the range seen in most people during pregnancy or after birth. Some ups and downs are entirely normal at this time.

Possible perinatal depression · score 9–12

Your score is in the range where perinatal mood issues become more likely. Many new parents sit here at some point; it is worth paying attention.

Likely perinatal depression · score 13–30

Your score is at or above 13 — the cutoff most perinatal services use to flag probable depression. This is serious but also highly treatable.
