Autism Traits Check
AQ-10 (Autism Spectrum Quotient — short form)
About this check
The AQ-10 is a 10-question brief version of the longer Autism Spectrum Quotient. The UK's NICE guidelines recommend it as a first-step screener for adults who wonder if they might be autistic. It asks about patterns in how you notice details, switch between tasks, and read other people.
Important: Autism cannot be diagnosed from a questionnaire. A formal assessment takes several hours with a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist and includes a developmental history. A score below 6 does not rule out autism, especially in people who have learned to mask.
What your score means
Below referral threshold · score 0–5
You scored below the threshold NICE uses to recommend a referral. This makes autism less likely to explain your experience — though some autistic adults, especially those who mask well, score below this line.
At or above referral threshold · score 6–10
You scored at or above 6 — the threshold UK guidelines use to recommend considering a full autism assessment. This does not mean you are autistic; it means the pattern is worth looking into properly.
