Alcohol Use Check
About this check
The AUDIT is the 10-question alcohol screener developed by the World Health Organization. It covers three areas: how much and how often you drink, whether you show signs of alcohol dependence, and whether drinking has caused harm. Scores of 8+ suggest hazardous drinking; 16+ suggests likely dependence.
What your score means
Your score is in the low-risk range. Alcohol use at this level is unlikely to be causing you harm, though some people choose to drink less or not at all for other reasons.
Your score is in the hazardous range. Drinking at this level increases your risk of alcohol-related harm — to liver, sleep, mood, relationships, and safety.
Your score is in the harmful range. Alcohol is likely already causing real harm in your life, even if you are still managing day to day.
Your score is at or above 20 — the threshold that suggests probable alcohol dependence. Stopping suddenly can be medically dangerous at this level.
How it works
Please answer each question about your alcohol use over the past year.
